Converter cannot open an excel file

If your Excel file has a lot more than just transactions (many sheets, macros, etc), the best way is to open that Excel file in Excel and select just cells with transactions (including the header line with the column names) and copy to clipboard and then use "Paste from clipboard" to paste transaction data in the converter.
