How to import a CSV file into AccountEdge Pro

This tutorial shows how to import CSV/Excel file into AccountEdge Pro. This accounting software does not import CSV files, but imports OFX files. We use a ProperSoft converter to convert CSV to OFX and then import into AccountEdge.

Click 'Bank register'.

Click 'Bank Statement'.

Look for 'Import Statement'.

Go to the location OFX file and click 'Open'. We see that four transactions in the bank statement file, four transactions imported, zero transactions skipped. Click 'OK'.

Now you can see, that negative amounts are imported as Withdrawals and positive amounts are imported as Deposits. Cheque # and Payee are imported. You have to set an Account, like expense or income account in your accounting, like how you defined this specific expense or specific income. It seems the OFX file itself is a bank statement download. Bank doesn't know about your accounting or how you categorize your expenses for one company. Home Depot expense could be a utility or could be office supplies for other companies, or building supplies, or things like that. So, basically, if you have CSV or Excel file and you need to import into AccountEdge, you can use the ProperConvert app to convert CSV or Excel files to OFX format and import them into AccountEdge.
